Job Description:
Oversee planning and scheduling of plant operations to produce products meeting customer requirements while maximizing plant profitability
Monitor inventory levels and help develop plans which: increase the speed at which materials flow through the plant, reduce inventory levels, and improve ATR
Monitor and develop scheduling and inventory control techniques compatible with JIT, Kaizen and Lean principles
Monitor inventory accuracy and implement robust systems for accuracy improvement
Participate in customer service activities as required
Monitor, report and improve on customer delivery performance
Monitor, report and eliminate causes for premium and unplanned freight charges
Monitor and resolve issues concerning interplant requirements and deliveries
Monitor and resolve capacity issues and reduce overtime costs
Facilitate communication of significant production-related events and sales impact to production management and finance
Reduce and dispose of surplus inventories
Participate in company IT project reviews; approve and prioritize projects related to above responsibilities
Ensure that department education and cross training is in place to fully develop a versatile Materials Group staff
Job Preferred Qualities:
Qualifications include: prior experience in materials function (preferably automotive)
Minimum of bachelors degree or related experience,
5-7 years
experience
Significant knowledge of Materials / Planning in a MRP based environment with a high number of SKUs and work cells
In depth knowledge of JIT and other Lean methods of manufacturing and material control
Excellent analysis skills related to manufacturing data; experienced user of MS Excel, Access, Word
Ability to successfully communicate with all areas and levels of manufacturing organizations to facilitate implementation of plant, system and customer improvements
Able to work overtime as neededEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
